Message It would be worthwhile to tear down your bottom end. At the very least you need to check to see if the deck of the block is still straight. But honestly, do you really want to put all that work into the engine and then have to do it all over again because a ring went, the deck's warped, or a bearing needs to be replaced.

I'm not saying you spend a large amount of money on new rods and pistons. Maybe just remove the internals, have them cleaned up a bit (have the pistons coated if you want) then replace the bearings, seals, and piston rings. Also have a machine shop check the specs on the deck and the various bearing surfaces.

Figure for less than $500 you can have peace of mind.
